Today was a beautiful afternoon. It is a rare day like today, that temporarily tricks your mind into thinking that living in a city with this type of climate, is a good idea. Since we were blessed with such a beautiful day, it would have been a waste if we weren't outside enjoying it in some fashion. For me, today involved an engagement photo session with Stacy, Terry and Corona (Australian Shepard Mix...I think). I always get a bit tense meeting new people because of my awkward social skills, but luckily I married Heidi and she makes that whole process easy. It's not like I am not social, but I tend to build up all this anxiety for absolutely no reason. Regardless, even though Heidi is just carrying a bag, she in fact is doing a lot more. Originally we were going to head to Andrew Hayden Park, but today our adventure brought us to Hog's back falls. For some reason, I had never really been here to take photographs. I am glad we did because this place is beautiful; credit goes to Stacy and Terry for choosing this location. I had a really amazing time, and got some great photographs in the process. The key to great photographs are great subjects who are willing to have a little fun and get a little silly. Thanks Stacy and Terry for accepting every idea I had and sorry you got wet and cold in the process. In the end I think it was worth it, here are some of my favourites...

I discovered this abandoned Barrhaven Motel thanks to fellow Ottawa photographer Undaily Power. I am really glad I did because it is a beautiful location for my concept. I want to thank my wife and Richard for helping me out in this little mini project. Also, if anybody is interested in helping me out on future projects as either as a model or assistant, let me know.
Julie and Jason's wedding
September 24, 2011- I was invited as the wedding photographer for Julie and Jason's wedding at the Montebello. I have only been there once before; it was during the winter season so I had no idea what it really had to offer. Wow, this place is great! I would love to stay there for a week and just relax and forget time - that is if I can afford it. I only know Jason from the few months we worked together, and coincidently I also worked with Julie as well in the past. They are really nice and easy-going people and made working with them a pleasure - both at our day jobs and at the wedding. I wish them all the best in their future. July 30, 2011 - Had a great time photographing this wedding. I got a chance to visit the new Ottawa Convention Centre since that was where the reception was being held. I must say, that is one huge building! It was a very lovely ceremony in the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. I've been inside before and I have seen many terrific photos, but this was my first time photographing it myself. Another highlight of my day was getting to see and hold all the wrestling title belts that Wayne had got for his wedding groomsman. I wish I had those a long time ago, and I wish I had thought of that for my own wedding. I am not even a big wrestling fan, but who doesn't like pretending to be a world champion in front of a mirror. Finally, I want to give thanks to Kevin Groen. He was my awesome assistant throughout this shoot cause Heidi was unavailable. He was definitely a treat to have and made my life way easier. Thanks Kevin. Finally, I almost forgot to thank Wendy Leung of Beyond Events. She was the wedding planner for this wedding and the one responsible for getting me this job. I must say it was a joy to work with a planner because everything was so organized. I was very amazed at how detailed the schedule was for the wedding day and how she was able to make everything fall on schedule. Every engaged couple should at least consider a planner, thanks Wendy!

July 16, 2011 - I had the pleasure to photograph Cheryl and Trent's amazing wedding reception a couple of months ago at Lago Bar and Grill. It was a very beautiful venue and the food was simply amazing. Cheryl and Trent had previously been married in a small ceremony near Niagara Falls with some close friends back in the wintertime. But, every since they have been planning for this event. They are a beautiful couple with lots of great friends and I wish them all the best in their future. Michal and Julie's Wedding
September 4, 2010 - I was there to photograph Michal and the boys getting ready at his mom's house by Mitch Owen's area south of Ottawa. Michal is a good friend of mine, and also my neighbour. We also have a lot of mutual friends and the guys I didn't know, I met at the bachelor party. So, this was an easy shoot and lots of fun. Thanks Michal and Julie for letting me shoot a part of their wedding.
